Principal's Message

Dear TLS Parents/Guardians,
On behalf of the faculty and staff at Thelma L. Sandmeier Elementary School, I am pleased to welcome you to our school community. We are excited to begin a new era in Springfield Public Schools.
We are delighted to welcome the following new staff members to TLS:
- Jessica Meagher, Kindergarten
- Phoebe Levine, First Grade (from EVW)
- Deanna Leonardis, First Grade (from EVW)
- Valerie Henriquez, Third Grade (former TLS Leave Replacement)
- Matthew Mallick, Music
In addition, several returning staff members will be serving in new roles:
- Alyssa Krutis, Pre-K
- Marissa Earley, Second Grade
- Danielle Feller, Second Grade
- Samantha Sommo, Third Grade
I extend a warm welcome to all of our new students as they begin their first year at the newly configured TLS. To our returning students, I wish you a productive and rewarding school year. The TLS faculty has worked diligently to create a comprehensive Pre-K through Grade 4 learning environment designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. Together, our staff and I look forward to building strong home–school connections so that we can fully support the academic, social, and emotional growth of every child.
The Springfield School District’s mission calls on the staff at TLS to nurture compassionate and extraordinary learners. Our curriculum provides rigorous, challenging instruction to promote academic excellence. Our goal is to foster a strong partnership and environment that offers students the best opportunities to grow as learners and as citizens. Together, we will work to provide a well-rounded educational experience that encourages both academic achievement and personal discovery.

We have many exciting programs planned for the year ahead. Information will be shared as they are initiated. I am truly looking forward to year at Sandmeier, and look forward to working with everyone.
